An unexpected joy
This picture was taken somewhere in Ireland, on a trip with my mom, in a little harbour town on a short train ride from Dublin.
We were there because we’d heard that the harbour was gorgeous. It was a tad disappointing.
It was smelly and dirty, and the pretty buildings weren’t so pretty, close up. It was okay though, because I saw this little fella pop his head up out of the water.
All of a sudden, the trip was all worth it.
I snapped several pictures of the seal, teary eyed with the joy of seeing him.
It has taught me that there’s always something to be joyful about, even in the ugliest places.
You just have to keep your eyes open, and your camera at the ready, to take happy snapshots.
