APPreciation - Flatnotes
I'm cheating a bit, as this isn't an app I've installed on my iPhone (the original premise of this series), but it's an app I run in my browser via on a Pikapods pod. Then again, I do use it on my iPhone, so maybe it does count anyway 😆
The app in question is Flatnotes and I love it. It's a really basic Markdown notes app, without any flair and fuss.
When you get to the home screen, all you see is a new note button and menu top right, and in the centre a search window and the four latest md files with three dots below, to show the rest of the notes.
It's perfect for what I use it for: a blog aside.
There's code in there to try out, a backup of my css, links I need to check, pages I need to create, some javascripts I've found to test.
Then when you open a note, you can hit a switch to edit it, which I love, and then hit the save button to save it.
That's it. That's all it does.
Perfect.
I used to have my website notes in Bear, and then I had to switch back and forth between windows, and that annoyed me. This way I can add things I think about right away, and I can paste things in without leaving my browser.
It's brilliant in its simplicity. I love that there's no database and no folder structure. This way I HAVE to work on notes when I feel overwhelmed (I tend to like my notes list to not be scrollable, so I can see all my notes in one screen).
All in all, a perfect app for the way I use it, and I can only recommend it.
