Blogging for joy's sake

This blog is a response to Binarydigit's postand Robert's post about blogging more, something that's right up my alley :)

Let me start off with a quote from Robert, because this is something I’ve always felt about blogging but worded in a delightful way:

In the world of blogging, the www bit stands for:
Write Whatever Whenever

This is basically a truncated version of my blogging philosophy, but there’s more to it, for me. Something that may sound selfish, but is actually liberating.

Years ago I was in a blogging slump, I didn’t know what to write, and I didn’t know if anyone would ever like what I would write.

Then one morning, I wrote something in my journal, I think, or for a blog post that has stuck with me ever since: I blog for an audience of one: me.

This realisation keeps me writing, keeps me sharing what I write.

My Dear Creative Soul letters are all letters to myself, to inspire me to create more, and I share them because I think that other creatives may want to read them too.

This is a bit of a bad example, because I do write the dear creative soul letters inspired by others too, sometimes I read something another creative writes on social media, and the letter just writes itself.

Short stories don’t get many clicks on my blog. I really don’t care. These stories are usually edits of short stories that lived on my blog before, and I want them on my blog, again. That’s all the reason I need to post.

So that means I hardly ever look at analytics on my blog. I do see the clicks on hearts, but that’s only because the hearts stats are on my blog’s dashboard page.

It’s so liberating to blog like this. I have a thought, I write it, and it’s on my blog before I know it.

And it keeps me blogging.
