Earworm projects
Do you have those moments when there's one single song (probably one you don’t even really like) playing constantly in your mind?
I’m sorting my writing folder right now, and found I have many writing projects that started just like that, with ideas that kept buzzing about in my mind.
They always are ideas that I wrote something on and then abandoned because it wasn’t really for me, or I had no idea how to continue.
Reading through those earworm projects made me realise that they were never about something I’m passionate about.
I’m passionate about creativity, about journaling and about living a life focused on joy, and in fiction I’m passionate about fantasy, especially urban fantasy.
That’s not what most of the earworm projects I have on my drive are about.
I’m slowly but surely zipping up the earworm projects in an archive with that title, and I will then delete all proof of them.
And then I’m going to work on projects I’m actually passionate about, one I wrote for NaNoWriMo one year. I will also edit old blog posts about creativity, and I will write new ones when inspiration strikes.
And if another earworm comes up, I will ask it if it fits within my passions, and if not, I will kindly ask it to find another home.
I’m too busy creating things I love.
