Elephants playing in water
When my husband and I celebrated our 25 years of marriage in April of this year, we went to the zoo where we got married, Blijdorp in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
It was such a joyous day, the weather was fantastic, and I was so excited to be out and about after a long time recovering from surgery.
The zoo was fantastic from the first moment as near the area where you enter is a huge aquarium.
The path then meanders to the old part of the zoo where my favourite animals reside: elephants.
Even before we reached the area, the shrieks and laughs reached us, so we knew we were in for something good.
And oh boy, we were.
The enclosure held three elephants, one older, one teen and one baby, all females, and the little ones were roughhousing.
They constantly pushed each other into the water, diving under to attack each other and everything. It was so joyful.
Here's a video of them playing (and that burst of laughter half way through? That's me ☺️)
Then the little one walked out and sprayed water over her back, I was so lucky to snap that.
I don't think I stopped smiling that entire day.
