Joyful geekery
Today I started working on my oracle deck again but I felt somewhat restless, and struggled rewriting/editing the poetry that goes with it.
No idea why I struggled but I bet it had something to do with the week of processing I've had.
I instantly knew I needed to geek out.
I've wanted to install a new linux version on a very old EeePC I have for a while now, so that I can take the thing to the cafe I like to go to, to write. I don't want to bring my Mac for obvious reasons, but the tiny Eee? That's something I can do.
I booted it first, to see if it still worked as I haven't touched it in a very long time.
And oh boy, I felt so exhilarated.
All my joy in using Linux came back, I made a new bootable usb stick, hit all the same buttons I have hit so many times to install the new OS, leaving the home directory intact.
And I was so happy.
This install is pure play for me. It's not crayons or a puzzle or paints but it's the same joy.
It's doing something I absolutely love and something I'm completely confident in.
I'm going to stop writing now, because I have to hit some more buttons, install some necessary software, and order a new cmos battery somewhere.
Is there anything better than this?
