New Pen Day

Warning: this post contains gleeful joy about fountain pens

A new pen arrived today! It’s one I’ve been looking forward to for weeks, as it was stuck in the post somewhere.

It’s a Pilot Kaküno EF, with a bright purple cap (not really clear in this picture, but in the one a bit further below, it is).

I don’t have a new pen day very often, by the way, I’m usually happy with the pens I have, but I’d read so much about Pilot pens being so wonderful to write it for lefties, that I had to try out one of their cheapest versions (but it has the same nib as the more expensive ones, I heard).

I unpacked my new pen, inked it up and instead of writing with it, I had to collage all the packaging things in my journal. (I use a passport size journal in tomoe river paper. It’s the perfect paper for fountain pens imho).

It’s all part of the glee of new pens :)

And then I started to ask myself the questions that are always on my mind when it comes to new pens:

  • does it write well?
  • can I write painless for at least a couple of pages?
  • how is the ink that came with it?

The answer to all those questions was a resounding yes.

The EF point is perfect for my tiny scribbles in my journal (I swear, I can write the same amount on one page as others do in bigger journals, that’s how tiny I like to write!).

All in all this purchase was a success, and I can’t write to scribble with it further (especially when the converter I ordered comes in and I can ink it up in purple!)

PS The pain question is big for me because I have joint pain in my writing wrist and hand, and that’s why I tend to switch between fountain pens if I write a lot on a day. This one might suffice for lengthy writing sessions though!
