Week 36 - 2025

šŸ—“ļø 1 to 7 September
  • I’ve launched my website on Monday, and I’m so proud of it. I’m using code from 2003/2004 for it, and it’s perfect! I still have a lot of things to add to my website, but I’m taking my time with it now the site is up. :DĀ
  • Ā I did so much tidying in my office, it’s amazing. I know where EVERYTHING is near my desk, and that’s a bloody miracle. Still haven’t found my stupid mini printer tho… Could be in a bag I forgot to sort through… (can you tell my office is STILL a mess?)
  • Olly from Pagecord has imported my blog posts from this year and the end of last year. I’ve decided not to keep my blog posts from earlier years online. So many things have changed!Ā
  • I loved this blog post by Chris O’Donnell about a camping trip. And look at all the pictures!
  • I was in the mood for a sweet little romance and Ready or Not by Cara Bastone delivered. I gave it āļøāļøāļøāļø, mostly because I was so completely in love with the hero of the story. He’s the cutest cinnamon roll.
  • We’ve just finished watching the first season of Legend of Korra, it took me a long time to like it, but the last episode was at least stellar. It was so good to see a certain character again. The start of the second season had me shout: ā€œhe is a villain!ā€ at least ten times. Korra is a tad naiveĀ  :D
  • Ā I wrote a duet of blog posts on building my website: Why did I ever abandon HTML/CSS andĀ  deep thoughts on building your own website.Ā
  • Read another Cara Bastone, Call me Maybe, and, well, it’s safe to say that my yearning for fluffy romance has been subsided. I give it āļøāļøāļøŽ. This one has a plucky heroine, so so so plucky that you want to smack her over the head with a gift box (as that’s what she creates). I did like her brother a lot tho, and he’s in the next book, so I’m going to read that one, and hope his heroine doesn’t want me to pull the hairs out of my head in annoyance :D (update: nope, I couldn’t do it)
  • Found myself nodding along repeatedly to this post:Ā  blogs don’t need to be so lonely
  • I’ve finished reading a Witch’s guide to magical innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna and I give it āļøāļøāļøāļøŽ. It makes me a bit sad that I didn’t love this book as much as the very secret society. I’ve pondered this for a day or two and realised two things: I hate someone being a villain for villain’s sake, and I hate to be reminded why a book is so wholesome on every four pages. I did like some of the side characters, and that’s why the rating stays, but the rating may turn out even lower if I think about it any more.Ā
  • David defends the em-dash so I won’t have to!
  • I wrote a blog post on my anxiety about a hospital visit tomorrow. I’m using one of my favourite Stoic quotes to remind myself that Ā I’m not in control.Ā
  • I desperately needed to sort through my notes (WHAT a mess, really!), and I’m rewatching Madam Secretary while doing that. The first season is just excellent, after that it goes a bit downhill, imho. The last season is just… ugh. I hated it. Can’t there once be a tv show about a woman in power who doesn’t have misogynistic *ssholes obstructing them in every way? It gets old SO fast.
  • Really enjoyed the Friday’s stage of La Vuelta. Such a great race and such amazing mountain views!Ā
And as I missed putting pictures with my weeknotes, I'm bringing back the snapshot of the week.
