Weeknotes 40 - 2025

🗓️ 29 September to 5 October

These notes are combined with those from last week, as I couldn’t get myself to write then.

favourite thing this week

A Sunday on the sofa watching random stuff with my husband, and meanwhile tidying up like mad. Perfect way to spend the day!

writing

Have worked on a couple of scenes in the novel I’m playing with. That felt so good.

blogging

  • I shared a post I wrote a draft of years ago. I finally knew how to finish it. Yay me. It’s about the constant stream of thoughts that start up whenever I  sit down to write  and how I combat them.
  • I wrote a new Dear Creative Soul letter, this time to help you to stop overthinking
  • I wrote about how I doodle myself to ideas, sometimes on paper, and in the past in an app that makes my handwriting pretty

reading

No significant reading this week, just a lot of books in progress.

watching

  • Pokerface season 2 was such a blast. I loved the ending so much.
  • Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 3 was such a mixed bag, and most of it bad. There was one episode I loved, the one where some of the staff were turned Vulcan. It was brilliant shenanigans and I giggled throughout the episode.
  • Hank Green made such a fantastic ode to Jane Goodall, focusing on her contributions to science.

joyful things

  • I kicked myself out of the house on Wednesday, and had a matcha latte at my favourite cafe. Then I dragged myself to the health food store to pick up some goodies, and patted myself on the back for doing something for my mental wellbeing.
  • I did another jigsaw puzzle on Tuesday. The pieces were ginormous, but it was such a beautiful puzzle. I’m so happy I can focus enough to do them now.
  • I picked up a book I’ve ordered from my new local bookshop, and I so love that. I’ve missed that, actually, to just walk into a bookshop and buy books there, instead of waiting a day for delivery from a large online bookshop that doesn’t care. And it gets me out of the house. Win/win.

blog posts I’ve enjoyed reading

  • Oh my gosh, now I want to go and make something on gopher again  I started out with Gopher, back in the stone age , just from reading  this blog post
  • I always fall for this when I think of a new writing project too!
  • Ava wrote great  insights on influencers that I need to ponder some more.

something I’ve enjoyed using this week

I really love the new version of the keeper of my constantly needed notes: Tot.

something that I’m grateful for

That I’ve booked a hotel I will stay at while my husband is off to do things with work.
